Caring for dental bridges

Brush carefully along the gum line of abutment teeth and under the bridge using floss threaders, superfloss or interdental brushes as shown.

Food trapped under a bridge should be removed gently every day to prevent decay and gum inflammation on the supporting teeth.

Avoid biting hard objects with the bridge. Sticky foods can loosen temporary cement if a temporary bridge is still in place.

Attend routine check-ups so the dentist can assess margins, bite and soft tissues. Sensitivity or a sweet taste near the bridge may signal a problem.

If a bridge feels loose or a piece chips, stop chewing on that side and call the clinic — do not try to glue it yourself.
